Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Game Design and Development NQF 7 is a 360-credit, NQF Level 7 degree that prepares students for careers in video games and interactive media. Over three years, students develop a blend of creative, technical, and research skills across areas such as game design, scripting, 2D and 3D asset creation, level design, narrative, audio, and user experience. The programme uses industry-standard tools and practices, combining theory with hands-on application through prototyping, game engines, and collaborative projects.
In the final year, students complete a major Creative Project supported by academic research and real-world experiential learning. Graduates are equipped for diverse roles such as game designer, developer, artist, producer, or UX designer, with pathways into animation, VR/AR, film, and digital media. The degree also builds entrepreneurial and industry-readiness skills, enabling students to work in studios, indie teams, or freelance environments both locally and internationally.
